The Democratic Freedom Party has strongly condemned the extending of its incarcerated chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah's judicial remand by 2 more weeks.

A party spokesperson in a statement condemned the arrest of Shabir Ahmad Shah by Enforcement Directorate and prolonging of his detention.

Shah who was arrested on July 25 was on Wednesday produced before court via video conferencing and the judge extended his remand by further two weeks.

The spokesperson said Shah has been arrested on fabricated charges and his detention is being prolonged which is extremely condemnable.

He said though Shabir Ahmad Shah is suffering from various ailments, he is being denied the basic facilities including the food prescribed by doctors. He said despite court orders Shah is being denied every basic facility in Tihar jail which has severely affected his health. He alleged that jail authorities are playing with his health.

The spokesperson said there is continuous threat to life of Shabir Ahmad Shah in Tihar jail. He appealed to world human rights organisations to take notice of such political vengeance meted out to Shah.

Meanwhile, after recieviving continous summons, Dr Bilquies Shah, the wife of Shabir Ahmad Shah, has finally left for Delhi to present herself before the Enforcement Directorate.

Dr Bilquies is getting repeated summons from ED since the arrest of her husband. Though she has already appeared before ED three times, she is repeatedly summoned.

The spokesperson while condemning such acts by ED said the people associated with a noble profession like medicine are unnecessarily harassed.

This is illegal, said spokesperson, adding that subjecting the family members of resistance leaders to mental torture is aimed at weakening the resistance movement.
